From Duty to Delight is the new season of why fasting is growing globally in the Church.
While the church in the past fasted out of duty the modern day church is doing it because she delights in Him.
To religious folks fasting is all about duty but to the Bride of Christ it is about beauty and delight.
To Jesus, it is about a relationship with His Bride the church and himself, the victorious, loving, strong Bridegroom. Yes, it is a mystery in this relationship that is not always understood with our natural understanding but through experience in worship, we begin to understand the spiritual shift that is taking place in us as we draw near to Him.
A bride and groom relationship is always fresh and new. During this 21 day fast, keep your perspective of being a lover so your fast is full of delight as you walk closer with Jesus. Let His name be strong and powerful yet sweet as honey.
Our loving tender hearts from fasting model the posture of leaning into Jesus. Our lives are so busy with everyday live and we are constantly on the run. Yet through fasting, with extended worship, waiting and sustained prayer times, we are reminded that our time spent with Him is not so much that He will hear us, but for us to hear Him.
This fast for tenderness and passion to be awakened in Christ love, is a reminder that fasting is not just a religious duty. This fast is a divine discontent of wanting more of God’s presence, love and kingdom purposes in our lives. It’s a stirring that resounds in our soul, for more of His presence, promises and power in our lives. Fasting is about a relationship. We simply want more of Jesus and everything He offers in our lives!
There are certain things in our spiritual journey that will not happen unless we fast.
Fasting takes courage and faith because it goes against the normal routine. Our fleshly soul, rebels against the new, uncomfortable pattern of fasting. So don’t be surprised by the resistance you may be experiencing.
The great news, that brings eternal rewards and benefits, is that fasting has an amazing way to set you free and to break every yoke that oppresses you.
Isaiah the prophet declared that the “fast the Lord has chosen has the power to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke.” -Isaiah 58:6
